“아주대 GKS 김규리 선생님께 감사드립니다.”
“Appreciation for Staff-in-Charge “Ms. Gyuree Kim” at Ajou University under GKS“



2019년 4월 8일, 김규리 선생님으로부터 제가 2019년 KGSP의 후보에 들었다는 이메일을 받은 순간부터 저는 NIIED의 최종 합격소식을 애타게 기다렸습니다. 최종 합격 후 선생님은 멀리 떨어져 있는 제게 꾸준한 연락을 통해 준비 과정에서 많이 많은 도움을 주셨습니다. 비록 인천공항에 도착하던 날인 2019년 8월 25일, 선생님의 사정으로 인해 기대와 달리 선생님을 만나볼 수는 없었지만, 그럼에도 사전에 길을 잘 안내해 주신 덕분에 안전하게 아주대에 도착할 수 있었습니다. 이후 선생님께서는 늘 많은 도움을 주셨는데, 건강검진을 받고 보험에 가입하던 일, GKS 오리엔테이션, 유심을 사고 은행 계좌를 열어 1월 GKS에 최종 제출하던 일, 귀국 항공편 티켓을 사던 일 등이 아직도 기억이 기억납니다. 한번은, 교내 GKS 장학생 모임이 있었을 때 선생님께서 저를 위해 할랄 음식을 넣기 위해 친구들에게 동의를 구해주신 적이 있습니다. 아쉽게도 반대 의견이 있어 다른 메뉴를 시키게 되었지만 선생님의 배려에 감사함을 느꼈습니다. 선생님의 밝은 성격과 여러 사안에 대해 다른 사람의 관점을 열심히 배우려고 했던 모습이 기억에 남습니다. 안타깝게도 선생님께서는 2021년 1월 일을 그만두셨고, 그 이후 선생님을 다시 만날 수는 없었습니다. 선생님께서는 열정적인 엄마로 지내고 계실 것 같습니다. 아이가 보다 나은 사람으로 자랄 수 있도록 직접 아이를 돌보고 싶다고 말씀하신 적이 있기 때문입니다. 이제 아기가 6개월 정도 되었겠네요. 선생님의 풍요롭고 행복한 결혼 생활을 기원하며 한국에서 다시 만나기를 바라겠습니다.

It was April 8, 2019, when I received an email from Ms. Gyuree Kim with the notification stating successful candidates of 2019 KGSP from Ajou University. That was the time when I could not wait for the final invitation from NIIED. Since then, Ms. Kim was continuously in touch with me and provided great assistance while sitting at a long distance. I thought to meet her on my arrival at the airport on Sunday, August 25, 2019, but she was busy due to some personal commitments. However, Ms. Kim guided me well and provided a route plan which helped me to reach Ajou University safely. I still remember getting a medical examination and insurance, GKS orientation, buying a sim and opening a bank account to the final submission to GKS in January, and buying a ticket for home return; she was always there to help. At some other time during a gettogether at Ajou University, she was concerned to have consensus on the Halal food menu by other GKS fellows. One of the fellows was not interested in Indian food, so we decided to have everyone's choice menu. I can recall that she has a pleasant personality and was eager to learn about others' perceptions of a different thing. Unfortunately, she suddenly quit her job in January 2019 that we could not meet again. I must say Ms. Kim was a passionate mom as she once shared that she wanted to be at home to raise her child to become a better person. I believe her child would be of six months now. I wish her a prosperous and happy married life and hope to see her again in Korea.
