9월 24일, 필리핀 GKS 동문회(GKS PHAA)와 주필리핀 대한민국 대사관 공동주재 하에 GKS 학부과정 지원 온라인 워크샵이 개최되었습니다. 동문들은 알맞은 프로그램과 수학대학을 선택하는 법, 효과적인 자기소개서 작성과 학업계획 수립, 면접 준비에 필요한 여러 가지 팁과 정보를 공유해주었습니다. 필리핀 동문회 회장이자 GKS 홍보사절 Ronel Laranjo 동문은 온라인 워크샵 상에서의 질의응답에 임하기도 하였습니다.

10월 8일, 필리핀 GKS 동문회가 제1회 "E-numan: Life After GKS" 행사를 개최했습니다. 온라인으로 진행된 본 행사에서 14인의 동문들이 한국에서의 유학생활과 졸업 이후 진로 및 삶에 대해 경험담을 나눠주었습니다. 본 행사의 목적은 동문회의 내부 연결망을 강화하고 동문 의식을 고취시키기 위함이었습니다. 5인의 동문이 새로운 공식 회원으로 위촉되었으며, 현재 필리핀 GKS 동문회에는 36인의 동문 회원을 보유하고 있습니다.



10월 21일, 필리핀 GKS 동문회가 2022 온라인 콜로퀴움을 개최했습니다. 김보람 주필리핀 대한민국대사관 제1서기관이 축사와 함께본 행사의 취지를 소개하였습니다. Ivy Angel Gutierrez Estrella 동문(2017년 초청, 한양대학교)은 석사학위논문 "Learning Mathematics in Two Languages: Students’ Use of Code-Switching and Code-Mixing in Filipino Mathematics Clas"을 공유하였습니다. 수학교사로 장기간 경력이 있는 Delia Mendoza씨와 언어문화교육 전문가 Jovy Peregrino 박사가 발표와 관련하여 통찰력 있는 피드백을 제공하였습니다. Michelle Palumbarit 박사가 본 행사를 담당, 관리하였습니다. 필리핀 동문회 회장과 GKS 홍보사절을 겸하고 있는 Ronel Laranjo 동문이 필리핀 동학들에게 필리핀 국내의 사회적 이슈들을 해결하는 데 필요한 색다른 견해들을 얻을 수 있도록 유학을 권하는 폐회사를 전하며 콜로퀴엄의 막을 내렸습니다.

On September 24, the Global Korea Scholarship Philippines Alumni Association (GKS PHAA) hosted an online workshop with the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the Philippines on applying for the 2023 GKS Undergraduate Degree Program. GKS PHAA members shared useful information and tips on how to choose the GKS track and university degree program that best suit one’s interests and goals, how to write the personal statement and study plan, and what to do to prepare for the interview. Mr. Ronel Laranjo, GKS PHAA president and current GKS Publicity Envoy, answered questions during the Q&A session.

On October 8, the GKS Philippines Alumni Association held its first “E-numan: Life After GKS” event. During the event, which was held online, 14 alumni shared their experiences of studying in Korea as well as their career and life journeys after graduating. The purpose of this event was to strengthen the bonds among alumni and enhance their sense of belonging. Five new members were welcomed into the GKS PHAA, which currently has 36 members.

On October 21, the GKS PHAA hosted an online colloquium that was overseen by Dr. Michelle Palumbarit. First Secretary Ms. Boram Kim (Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the Philippines) gave the opening remarks and explained the colloquium’s objective, after which alumna Ivy Angel Gutierrez Estrella (Hanyang University; invited in 2017) gave a presentation on her master’s thesis titled, “Learning Mathematics in Two Languages: Students’ Use of Code-Switching and Code-Mixing in Filipino Mathematics Class.” Ms. Delia Mendoza, who worked as a math teacher for many years, and Dr. Jovy Peregrino, an expert on language/culture education, provided insightful feedback on the presentation. Mr. Ronel Laranjo gave the closing address, in which he recommended that listeners study abroad as a means of gaining the diverse types of knowledge necessary to address the Philippines’ various social issues.
