Academically, I am pursuing a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering at the School of Mechanical Engineering, Pusan National University. I contribute as a research scholar both globally and within the Korean research community, working in a high-tech field that connects my major with AI,

Professionally, I serve as the Business Development Manager at Kencoa Aerospace Corporation, stationed in the aerospace city of Korea, Sacheon. In this role, I focus on engaging OEMs, encouraging them to establish operations in Korea, and facilitating the transfer of their technology and business to Kencoa. Through these efforts, I contribute, albeit in a small capacity, to the ongoing development and growth of the Korean Aerospace and Defense industry. Socially, I hold the position of General Secretary (총무) for the Foreign Resident Association of Sacheon (사천 거주 외국인 연합회). In this capacity, I support the foreign residents of Sacheon, a city with a foreign population of 3,884. This volunteering role is guided by three core principles: 자주 (Autonomy), 자립 (Self-Reliance), and 자치 (Self-Governance). I not only assist them in overcoming challenges they face in their daily lives but also help them integrate into Korean society, fostering mutual respect and contributing to a more harmonious and inclusive community. >The GKS Scholarship allowed me to focus on my educational goals without the financial burden of tuition fees or living expenses. This support enabled me to dedicate my time and energy to my research. (GKS 장학금은 등록금이나 생활비 부담 없이 학업 목표에 집중할 수 있도록 도와주었습니다. 이 지원 덕분에 저는 제 연구에 시간과 에너지를 온전히 투자할 수 있었습니다.)
Additionally, I actively participated in the GKS alumni community at Pusan National University, serving as President for two years. I organized events and worked to improve the welfare of fellow GKS scholars, which helped me to practice my leadership skills and establish a strong network within the international student community in Korea. My efforts and activeness towards the GKS Alumni, PNU maintaining my academic scores and research results was later recognized by NIIED and was awarded with “Outstanding Performance Award 2022”. 4. Have you been able to use the skills or knowledge you gained in Korea in your career so far? (지금까지 한국에서 얻은 기술이나 지식을 경력에 활용할 수 있었나요?)

>> Yes, the most important factor that helped was my proficiency in the Korean language, followed by my graduation from a Korean university and my previous professional exposure and experiences. (네, 저에게 가장 중요한 요소는 한국어 능력이며, 그 다음으로는 한국 대학 졸업과 이전의 직업적 노출 및 경험이 큰 도움이 되었습니다)

5. What role has the GKS alumni network played in your life after graduation, if any? (졸업 후 GKS 동문 네트워크가 당신의 삶에 어떤 역할을 했나요?)

>> Yes, the GKS alumni network played a key role by providing valuable information. I was in contact with GKS President Mr. Zahid Hussain, who assisted me with details about business operations. Additionally, other senior graduates supported me with their professional experience and provided insights into visa matters. 6. Do you think the GKS program has evolved over the years? In what ways could it improve or adapt to the needs of future scholars? (GKS 프로그램은 시간이 지나면서 발전해왔나요? 향후 장학생들의 요구에 맞게 어떻게 개선하거나 적응할 수 있을까요?)

>> The GKS program has evolved over the years, becoming globally competitive, with scholars selected from thousands of applicants, showcasing their academic and professional excellence. However, while Korea has served as a hub for these intellectual minds, the Korean government's policies have not fully nurtured them, highlighting areas for improvement to ensure long-term success. (GKS 프로그램은 수천 명의 지원자 중에서 선발된 장학생들이 학문적 및 직업적 우수성을 보여주며 글로벌 경쟁력을 갖추게 되면서 발전해왔습니다. 그러나 한국은 이러한 지적 인재들의 중심지로 기능하고 있지만, 한국 정부의 정책이 이들을 충분히 지원하지 못하고 있어, 장기적인 성공을 보장하기 위해 개선이 필요한 부분이 있음을 강조합니다.")

7. What would you say to someone who is considering applying for the GKS program but is unsure about making the leap to Korea? (GKS 프로그램 지원을 고려 중이지만 한국으로의 도약을 망설이고 있는 사람에게 무엇이라고 말하고 싶나요?)

>> First and foremost, I would like to emphasize that Korea is a safe place to live, and its education, particularly in the high-tech sector, is globally competitive. This makes it an excellent destination for pursuing your dreams in Korea. However, I personally believe that some challenges may arise. It could be difficult to fully integrate due to the Korean language barrier, and given the deep-rooted Korean culture, it might be challenging for an individual to secure higher executive positions or receive equal opportunities, even with the same credentials as a Korean national. (첫째로, 한국은 살기 안전한 곳이며, 특히 첨단 기술 분야에서 교육 수준이 글로벌 경쟁력을 갖추고 있다는 점을 강조하고 싶습니다. 이는 한국에서 꿈을 이루기에 훌륭한 목적지임을 의미합니다. 그러나 개인적으로 몇 가지 도전 과제가 있을 수 있다고 생각합니다. 한국어 장벽으로 인해 완전히 통합되기 어려울 수 있으며, 깊이 뿌리내린 한국 문화로 인해 동일한 자격을 가진 외국인이라도 한국인과 동일한 기회를 얻거나 높은 직책을 확보하는 데 어려움이 있을 수 있습니다.")

8. How did you prepare for your life in Korea before you arrived? Were there any cultural shocks or challenges you faced?( 한국에 도착하기 전에 한국에서의 생활을 어떻게 준비했나요? 겪은 문화 충격이나 도전 과제가 있었나요?)

>> Before arriving in Korea, I made an effort to learn some basic Korean, and it turned out to be quite helpful. Being Asian, I found it relatively easy to integrate culturally, as there are many shared values, such as honorifics, general speech, and social norms. However, one thing I noticed is that many people here are quite introverted, and it takes time for them to open up and form friendships. (한국에 도착하기 전에 저는 기본적인 한국어를 배우려고 노력했으며, 그것이 꽤 도움이 되었습니다. 아시아 사람으로서, 존댓말, 일반적인 말투, 사회적 규범과 같은 공유된 가치들이 많아서 문화적으로 통합하는 데 비교적 쉽게 적응할 수 있었습니다. 하지만 한 가지 느낀 점은 많은 사람들이 상당히 내성적이라는 점이었고, 그들이 마음을 열고 친구를 사귀는 데 시간이 걸린다는 것이었습니다.)

9) What advice would you give to future GKS applicants?( 미래의 GKS 지원자들에게 어떤 조언을 해주고 싶나요?)

>> For future GKS applicants, I would advise that developing Korean language skills is crucial if you're planning to pursue the 'Korean dream.' It's beneficial to start learning, even before receiving the final GKS result. Secondly, take your time when selecting a professor and university. Make sure there is a strong alignment between your interests, past experiences, and the programs offered. It would also be helpful to contact the professor or relevant department in advance. My third piece of advice is to prepare your application systematically. Focus on highlighting your academic interests and related experiences, and aim for precision rather than trying to make it excessively long or overly polished. (미래의 GKS 지원자들에게는, '한국의 꿈'을 이루고자 한다면 한국어 능력을 개발하는 것이 매우 중요하다는 점을 조언하고 싶습니다. 최종 GKS 결과를 받기 전이라도 한국어를 배우기 시작하는 것이 유익합니다. 둘째로, 교수님과 대학을 선택할 때 시간을 충분히 가지세요. 자신의 관심사와 이전 경험, 그리고 제공되는 프로그램 간의 강한 일치가 있는지 확인하는 것이 중요합니다. 또한 교수님이나 관련 부서와 미리 연락을 취하는 것이 도움이 될 것입니다. 세 번째로는, 지원서를 체계적으로 준비하는 것입니다. 학문적 관심과 관련 경험을 강조하고, 지나치게 길거나 너무 다듬으려 하기보다는 정확성을 목표로 준비하는 것이 좋습니다.)
