Arrival in Korea

Upon first arriving in Korea, students can avoid confusion by learning in advance what to do when they arrive and what forms of transportation will take them to their accommodations and university.

Entry procedures

  • 1. Manned immigration
    1. 1) Manned immigration screening
      - Manned immigration is conducted separately for citizens of Korea and foreigners.
      - Foreigners (except for registered foreigners) must fill out the arrival card, and those who are eligible to register must visit the Immigrations Office within 90 days of entry to register.
    2. 2) Exemption from filling out the arrival card
      - Korean nationals and foreigners who plan to reside on a long-term basis (over 90 days) and who have already registered with the Immigration Office need not fill out the arrival card.

  • 2. Customs declaration
    Fill out the customs declaration form
    1. - Travelers with declared goods should fill out a customs declaration form and then use the “Declared” channel to undergo customs inspection.
    2. - If your family is entering the country together with you, fill out only one page per family.
    3. - Enter and sign the customs declaration target and traveler's personal information on the traveler's personal belongings declaration form received on board.
    4. - The traveler's personal belongings declaration form can be filled out at the arrival hall; to expedite the entry process, however, please fill it out in advance on the plane.
    5. - If you have unaccompanied items or uninspected baggage, please write such on the carry-on baggage declaration form and submit it to the customs office at the point of entry for confirmation.
    6. - If you wish to pay taxes later, you may apply verbally with a customs official.
    7. - Mobile customs declaration: When entering the country, you can complete the entry process more quickly and conveniently by reporting through the “Traveler Customs Declaration” app or web. (Tax payment is possible after customs declaration)

  • 3. Baggage claim

    After completing immigration, check the baggage claim number on the front electronic display board, take the elevator or escalator to the first floor, wait at the designated baggage claim area, and retrieve your baggage.
