On December 27, 2024, the Congolese Community in Korea met with the Seoul Metropolitan Council to discuss improving the K-life experience for foreign students and residents. This meeting filled them with joy and a renewed sense of purpose. This gathering, facilitated by the International World in Korea (IWIK), a dedicated local Korean NGO that champions the interests of foreigners residing in the country, provided an excellent platform for discussions on how to better support foreign organizations in their events and address various pressing issues, particularly those related to immigration. The discussions highlighted the importance of these sessions in helping foreign residents navigate the process of securing support from the Seoul City government, making their lives easier and more enjoyable. Everyone highlighted the importance of collaboration and communication in creating a welcoming environment for Korea's diverse communities.

On December 28, 2024, the Dynamic of Congolese Elite in Korea (DECOC) held a gathering in Seoul to share gifts and extend best wishes among its members. This annual event brings the Congolese community together, creating a strong sense of unity. It provides a fantastic platform for individuals to connect, celebrate their rich cultural heritage, and engage in meaningful interactions. Furthermore, the event encourages a culture of solidarity and sharing among all participants, promoting understanding and cooperation within the community. Ultimately, it strengthens bonds and cultivates lasting relationships among attendees. Members use this opportunity to show appreciation and strengthen their bonds, cultivating camaraderie and support within the community. Such gatherings are vital for strengthening the social fabric and communal values important to the Congolese elite in Korea.

On December 21, 2024, DECOC hosted its first interactive mentoring conference, providing valuable insights on applying for scholarships in South Korea. The conference focused on the KOICA scholarship, specifically for Congolese individuals living in DR Congo and employed by the Congolese government. The event aimed to inspire and empower participants to explore educational opportunities in South Korea and experience its culture and values. Mr. Reagan Ingoma, a Master in Public Health and PhD candidate at Yonsei University, skillfully presented the event, with expert facilitation by Mr. Ben Katoka, PhD and professor at Hankuk University. 지난 12월 14일 토요일, 국립국제교육원이 주최한 크리스마스 파티 및 유학생 교류의 날 행사에 참여했습니다. 저희 주한 베트남 유학생 총회에서 약 10명이 함께 참여했으며, 정말 즐겁고 뜻깊은 시간을 보냈습니다. 이런 행사를 통해 다른 국가의 친구들과 교류할 수 있는 기회를 가질 수 있었을 뿐만 아니라, 서로의 문화를 공유하고 각 나라의 총회에 대해 알아가는 유익한 시간이었습니다. 특히 준비된 게임들이 너무 재미있어서 모두가 활기차게 즐길 수 있었습니다. 행사를 기획하고 준비해주신 모든 분들께 진심으로 감사드립니다. 또한, 행사 안내와 진행을 도와주신 분들께도 깊은 감사의 말씀을 전하고 싶습니다. 저희 베트남은 이번 행사에서 세계 각국에서 온 친구들 앞에서 나라를 자랑스럽게 소개할 수 있는 특별한 기회를 얻게 되어 정말 행복했습니다. 앞으로도 이런 의미 있는 행사가 계속 개최되기를 희망합니다.

The Dynamics of the Congolese Elite in Korea (DECOC) proudly participated in the International Students' Year-End Party on December 14th in Seoul. This event was not only a vibrant celebration filled with energy and excitement, but it also served as an exhilarating opportunity for students from many different backgrounds to come together and engage with one another. It provided a unique platform for individuals to share their diverse experiences, stories, and perspectives, enriching the atmosphere. This gathering helped participants build meaningful connections, share ideas, and learn from each other's diverse experiences. It created an environment facilitating open discussions and collaboration, allowing individuals to expand their networks. Attendees gained valuable knowledge and potential partnerships from the event. This mutual support and exchange atmosphere truly enriched the overall experience for all involved. These interactions helped students create a sense of community and appreciate the diverse cultures present. During this vibrant and lively gathering, brimming with enthusiasm and camaraderie, DECOC received notable recognition and was honored as one of the top six most active student organizations in Korea. This significant accolade showcases their hard work and unwavering commitment. It highlights the profound impact they have made within the student community, inspiring others to engage and contribute in meaningful ways.  The best is yet to come!

𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒 - 𝐎𝐧𝐞 𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐓𝐫𝐢𝐩 𝐭𝐨 𝐍𝐚𝐦𝐢 𝐈𝐬𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝 This event was organized by the Peruvian-Korean Academic Association (ASAPEC, Instagram:  @asapec.pe) as a recreational event for the current members. Place: Nami Island Date & Time: November 30th, 2024, 10:30 AM Itinerary Morning Schedule 10:30 - 11:30: Departure from Silnae Station to Gapyeong via Bus (Route 10-4). The schedule was pushed up beforehand some minutes since the distance from Seoul was very far. There were no inconveniences. 11:30 - 12:30: Free time to explore the ferry port surroundings and enjoy scenic views of the Han River.   12:30 - 13:00: Transfer by ferry to Nami Island.  Afternoon Schedule 1:00 - 2:30: Lunch at Nanmoon Korean Restaurant. The members ate a different variety of korean dishes, such as ttukbaegi-bulgogi, bibimbap, dumplings, jjimdalg, etc. 13:00 - 15:00: Free exploration of Nami Island, taking pictures. We walked around all the island, taking pictures in the best spots, until the southernmost point of it. We then spent some time talking and sharing experiences, as well as trying the new shirts of the organization and looking up the vacuum flasks that were given as a gift for the occasion.   15:00 - 15:45: Final group photos at Nami Island in different locations 15:45 - 18:30: Return journey via ferry to Gapyeong Station, followed by bus transfer to Seoul   Delivery of Thermos The organization of ASAPEC gave the participants of this event a thermo with the design of the organization. Also, formal t-shirts from ASAPEC were delivered as well to the members. Acknowledgements ASAPEC extends its heartfelt thanks to the organizers, volunteers, and participants who made this event possible. We hope to organizing more activities for our community and creating memorable experiences between its members Traduccion a Español   2024 - Viaje de un día a la isla Nami Este evento fue organizado por la Asociación Académica Peruano Coreana (ASAPEC, Instagram: @asapec.pe) como un evento recreativo para los actuales miembros. Lugar: Isla Nami Fecha y hora: 30 de noviembre de 2024, 10:30 a. m.   Itinerario Horario de la mañana 10:30 - 11:30: Salida desde la estación Silnae hacia Gapyeong en autobús (Ruta 10-4). El horario se adelantó unos minutos ya que la distancia desde Seúl era muy grande. No hubo inconvenientes. 11:30 - 12:30: Tiempo libre para explorar los alrededores del puerto de ferry y disfrutar de las vistas panorámicas del río Han. 12:30 - 13:00: Traslado en ferry a la isla Nami. La siguiente es una foto de grupo. Horario de la tarde 1:00 - 2:30: Almuerzo en el restaurante coreano Nanmoon. Los miembros comieron una variedad diferente de platos coreanos, como ttukbaegi-bulgogi, bibimbap, dumplings, jjimdalg, etc. 13:00 - 15:00: Exploración libre de la isla Nami, toma de fotografías. Caminamos por toda la isla, tomando fotografías en los mejores rincones, hasta el punto más meridional de la misma. A continuación estuvimos un rato conversando y compartiendo experiencias, además de probarnos las nuevas camisetas de la organización y buscar las termos que regalaron para la ocasión. 15:00 - 15:45: Fotos grupales finales en la isla Nami en diferentes ubicaciones 15:45 - 18:30: viaje de regreso en ferry a la estación de Gapyeong, seguido de traslado en autobús a Seúl   Entrega de termos La organización de ASAPEC entregó a los participantes de este evento un termo con el diseño de la organización.  Además, se entregaron camisetas formales de ASAPEC a los  integrantes.   Expresiones de gratitud ASAPEC extiende su más sincero agradecimiento a los organizadores, voluntarios y participantes que hicieron posible este evento.
