Regional Talent (F-2-R)
A residence status that allows mid- to long-term stay for foreign nationals who meet certain requirements in regions of Korea experiencing population decline
Mandatory Condition: Must live and work in the designated region for a specified period
Eligibility: Foreign residents in Korea who are officially recommened by the head of the local govenment in a designated population-decline area
Key Requirements:
1) Must hold at least an associate degree from a Korean institution or earn at least 70% of Korea’s GNI per capita income from the previous year
2) TOPIK Level 4 or higher or completion of Level 4 or higher in the Korea Immigration & Integration Program (KIIP)
3) Residence restriction period: 5 years
4) Employment industries: No restrictions
5) Accompanying family members: Allowed (spouse and minor children)
Length of Stay: Up to 5 years (extendable in 1–2 year increments) -
Metropolitan Regional Visa Program ★Pilot Program★
Applies to Student (D-2) and Special Occupation (E-7) visa categories
Allows metropolitan local governments to design visa framework tailored to their regional economic and social talents needs
Foreign nationals who meet the criteria and are recommended by the local government may receive a visa after review by the Ministry of Justice
Student (D-2)
Basic Requirement: Must meet the minimum requirements for enrollment in a regular degree program
Detailed Requirements: Can be flexibly set according to the needs of each local government
Special Occupation (E-7)
Basic Requirement: Must meet the occupation requirements
Detailed Requirements: Can be flexibly set according to the needs of each local government
